Land Cover/Land Use Data Update Projects
Through research and practice, RS&GIS has developed
a standard procedure for updating land cover / land use data in Michigan. . . .
more. This procedure adheres to the original
mapping and classification standards, while taking advantage of
technological advancements, thereby allowing for true land cover/land
use change analysis. The update procedure has been applied to numerous
townships and counties throughout the state of Michigan.

IMAGIN Land Use Classification Committee
RS&GIS played an integral role in the development and leadership of the IMAGIN
(Improving Michigan's Access to Geographic Information Networks) Land Use Classification
Committee. The committee was tasked with exploration of issues relating to Land Cover / Land
Use data in Michigan including classification systems, imagery sources, and data update
methodologies. A Working Paper has been produced as a result of online discussion groups
and a Work Group Meeting held December 16, 1999.
