National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP)
The National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP), administered through the Farm Services Agency, US Department of Agriculture, acquires aerial imagery throughout the continental US. This imagery is collected mid-growing season for agricultural assessment. Further information can be found at the Aerial Photography Field Office.
Through a unique collaboration of university, state, and federal partners (i.e. MAIP - Michigan Aerial Imagery Partnership), NAIP imagery was flown for the entire state in summer 2005. Data collection was undertaken by LandAir Mapping, Inc. of Atlanta Georgia, utilizing state of the art Leica ADS40 Airborne Digital Sensors, which are designed to rapidly collect precise imagery directly to a digital form. Once imagery was flown, it was orthorectified, color-balanced, compressed and compiled into county mosaics and uncompressed, color-balanced, orthorectified quarter-quadrangle images. This imagery is now available through a number of agencies and in a variety of data formats - NAIP Products.
